Why Choose Ayia Napa for your beach holiday this year
The famous Nissi beach is one of the best in Cyprus and often voted in the top ten beaches in the Mediterranean. As well as the long sweep of golden sand, there are a choice of restaurants and bars, watersports and there are lifeguards on duty in summer. Nissi beach is home to the legendary Nissi Bay Beach Bar which is THE place to go in the daytimes in Ayia Napa. Hosting daytime beach parties and foam parties for many of the big clubs and bars in town, there's always a party going on here.
Sandy Bay (Vathia Gonia) is slightly quieter and is a picturesque cove. Only 20 minutes from the centre of Ayia Napa, this beach has a selection of restaurants, watersports and life guards on duty during the summer. Sandy bay also has wheelchair access to the sea via a Seatrac. Just over the headland is Pernera beach which is a small stretch of sand with watersports available. This area of coast is rocky in places and leads along to Katsarka Beach where you will find small coves and sandy dips in between the rocks.
Reaching the harbour at the centre of Ayia Napa you will see the long stretch of sand which is Pantachou Beach and connecting to Glyki Nerou further on. This beach has some cool beach bars, a choice of watersports and great views of the pleasure boats coming in and out of Ayia Napa harbour. Pantachou beach offers wheelchair friendly facilities with a floating wheelchair available for access to the sea. Past the edge of town is the secret hideaway of Ammos Tou Kambouri. This delightful little string of coves is a great spot to sunbathe in peace and tranquility. There is a snack bar here but no lifeguards on duty.
Just beyond this is Kermia or Limnara Beach which has has amazing views of Cape Greco. Our final beach before we reach Protaras is Konnos Bay. This gorgeous cove is nestled amongst pine groves and features a stunning blue lagoon, popular with luxury yachts. There are watersports available here and a snack bar where you can cool off in the shade of the palms. There are lifeguards on duty during the summer months.
Ayia Napa has a choice of 14 beautiful blue flag beaches. If you like going star shaped and catching that all important holiday tan then there's no better choice for beach lovers than Ayia Napa.
The sand in Ayia Napa is a soft golden yellow and the sea is a crystal clear turquoise blue. The sand gently shelves into the sea making it safe for children and non-swimmers. The Mediterranean sea around Ayia Napa is warmest from June through to November but many people swim all year round.
The beaches in Ayia Napa are all linked by a seafront walkway which stretches for several kilometres from Ayia Thekla in the east up to Cape Greco in the west. There is also a great networks of cycle paths following the coastline so it's easy to enjoy the sea air and the stunning views from anywhere in Ayia Napa.
Ayia Thekla is the first beach in Ayia Napa and this small family friendly beach has a beach bar/restaurant and a lifeguard on duty in peak season. Makronissos Beach has a larger beach and a couple of smaller coves hidden amongst dunes so it's a lovely area for either sunbathing or walking. There are watersports available here as well as a beach bar and lifeguard on duty during the summer. Landa Beach is the next bay we come to in Ayia Napa and this beach also has watersports. There isn't a beach bar here but there is often an ice cream van. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer season. Landa Beach also offers a floating wheelchair and has disabled access for the less mobile.
