Tour DescriptionThis is an alternative way of enjoying the Cypriot countryside away from commercial tourist spots. You’ll be in the company of locals who are passionate about traditional produce, the true ambassadors of our island’s culture.
We’ll start the day in the Larnaca region with a visit to a donkey farm. Here we’ll meet the native Cyprus donkey and try delicious products made from donkey milk, such as chocolate and liqueur. This will be followed with a trip to Lefkara village in the Troodos Mountains. This picturesque village is famous for it’s architecture and handcrafts including traditional lace making. We’ll enjoy a walk around the village and visit a small family-owned sweets factory making Cyprus delights. The next stop on the tour is a rustic retreat specialising in bee-keeping where we’ll enjoy a lavish picnic lunch surrounded by the flowers of the Cypriot countryside. After this we’ll be given an insight into bees and their products plus a tour at the high-tech laboratory. A tasting will follow where you’ll sample many different types of honey and other forms of hive produce such as bee pollen. Wearing a special protective suit, you can then visit the apiaries and inspect the bee hives where all the sweet magic happens. Finally, you’ll be invited to attend a cookery session where we will learn how to make a traditional Cypriot pastry enhanced with honey to end the day with a sweet dessert. This is a full day tour, around 7 hours of touring around the Troodos region plus journey time from/to your accommodation. It is available any day, all year round, excluding national holidays, subject to availability. When there is high demand we may offer you an alternative date if all our guides are already booked on tours. Please book at least 2 days in advance. For last minute bookings, please contact us and we will do our best to book you on this tour.
