Tour DescriptionThis unique tour will satisfy foodies as well as lovers of scenery and beautiful places. It combines the charm of traditional rural Cyprus with the opulence and luxury of a modern wine producing estate.
Our small group tour starts at the village of Omodos. This picturesque village in the foothills of the Troodos mountains is famous as a home for artisans. It's maze of winding streets will delight you with tiny boutique stores, craft workshops and handmade gifts. Omodos is also home to one of the oldest wine presses on the island of Cyprus and we will explore the tradition of wine making in the region at the quaint village museum. We can also visit the Holy Cross monastery and discover the traditional bread baking of the village. We then leave the village for the Vassiliades Estate just a short distance away. This large modern wine estate surrounded by vineyards is very grand and in complete contrast to the humble beginnings of wine production on the island. At Vassiliades Estate we have a short tour of the property and can learn a little about Cyprus wines and their production. We will then enjoy a lavish 5 course lunch. The menu includes traditional ingredients with a modern twist; Halloumi salad, Spinach and cheese filo rolls, pumpkin risotto, slow coked pork and chocolate noix. This special menu expertly pairs each course with a suitable wine and we will also try the famous Commandaria, made in Cyprus for thousands of years. This is a full day tour, around 6 hours plus journey time from/to your accommodation. It is available any day, all year round, excluding national holidays, subject to availability. When there is high demand we may offer you an alternative date if all our guides are already booked on tours. Please book at least 2 days in advance.
