What is the legal drinking age in Ayia Napa?
You have to be 18 or over to legally buy alcoholic drinks in Ayia Napa. The legal drinking age used to be 17 but was increased in 2020.
Do I need to bring ID to get into clubs in Ayia Napa?
ID is rarely asked for in Ayia Napa and carrying important documents such as passports on a night out is not a good idea. The legal drinking age is 18 and if you look significantly younger than this we wold suggest you get some other type of "proof of age" card or equivalent or a copy of your passport or driving licence.
Can I smoke in bars and clubs in Ayia Napa?
No. A smoking ban has been in place in Ayia Napa for many years meaning it is illegal to smoke inside any building. The legal smoking age is 18.
Are drugs available in Ayia Napa?
Ayia Napa is not somewhere that you will be offered drugs on every street corner. If you are caught buying, selling, or in possession of drugs, no matter how small the amount, you will most likely be looking at a hefty fine and possibly facing a jail term. The police like to take a firm line with non-Cypriot nationals for drug offences. We strongly recommend you do not bring any drugs to Cyprus with you, nor try to buy them in resort.
Are there doctors in Ayia Napa?
Yes, there are several doctors in Ayia Napa who offer a walk in service for tourists. They will examine and treat almost any and every injury or illness that you may have. If you have travel insurance the cost of visiting the doctor may be covered by this or you may have to pay an amount as an excess and your insurance will take care of the rest. If you do not have travel insurance then you will need to cover the cost yourself. EHIC cards are not valid at private doctor's practices in Ayia Napa.
Are there ATM machines in Ayia Napa?
Yes there are ATM machines at several locations around the town as well as branches of local banks. All businesses will take payment by card or cash.

How much does it cost to get into clubs in Ayia Napa?
Entry cost into Ayia Napa's clubs varies. Some clubs offer free entry before a set time and you can often get free entry tickets for some of the clubs in the bars. If there is a big event or club night on you may pay up to €25 entry fee in high season. In the quieter months the entry price could be anything from €5 - €15 per person with some clubs offering a free drink ticket included in your entry price.
Is there free Wifi in Ayia Napa?
Most restaurants and bars will offer free wifi for their customers. Hotels will also offer either free wifi or a paid access for a set amount of time. At the beach, you will receive a wifi code on your receipt when you pay for sunloungers.
Is there a laundry in Ayia Napa?
Yes, there are self service launderettes as well as a full service laundry service.
What's the weather like in Ayia Napa?
The weather in Ayia Napa is very warm for most of the year with an average of 320 days of sunshine. From June to August the temperatures can reach the high 30's every day. During the winter months the daytime temperature rarely drops below 15 degrees Centigrade but nights can be very cold from November until April. There is a chance of heavy rain showers and thunderstorms from October though to May but these are usually very short and pass quickly.
Is there a lot of crime in Ayia Napa?
No. Ayia Napa is one of the safest places to holiday in Europe. The crime rates are very low but we would always advise that you take sensible precautions and make use of safety deposit boxes and avoid carrying large amounts of cash or high value items around with you. Drink spiking is very rare but never leave drinks unattended.
Is nudity allowed in Ayia Napa?
No. Cyprus is quite a traditional country and whilst topless sunbathing is perfectly acceptable on the beach, nudity in other public places is not allowed. There are no nudist beaches and the police will take action on indecent exposure and nudity in public areas.
How do I get to Ayia Napa from the airport?
The quickest way to get to Ayia Napa from the airport is by taxi. Pre-booking will save you money on the metered rate at the airport and you will get taken straight to your hotel. The cheapest way is on the airport shuttle bus which goes via Larnaca town but there are less buses at night and at weekends. This will take you to the centre of Ayia Napa. There are also pre-booked shuttle buses available which are midway between the prices of taxi's and the airport shuttle. They will take you to your accommodation but you may have numerous other stops on the way.
Are drinks expensive in Ayia Napa?
Drinks prices in Ayia Napa are reasonable compared to many European countries. Local drinks start at €2 in some bars with higher prices for imported drinks and cocktails. In the busy bars and clubs in the centre of town drinks will be more expensive. Some bars offer a 2 for 1 or an open bar ticket and some will offer free shots or a free fishbowl for groups.
