We start our day with a short stop in the tiny village of Lithrodontas. Here you can relax with a coffee from the local Kafenio or enjoy the scenery of the village. We then move on to Lefkara village which is located in the Troodos foothills in the southeast of Cyprus. It is famous throughout the world for it's exquisite lace and needlework. The "Lefkarito" created wealth and made Lefkara one of the few prosperous villages outside of the main towns. Silverwork is also a traditional craft of the town with delicate filigree work produced by fine silversmiths. Today this is still a great village for shopping and purchasing traditional souvenirs.
The real pleasure of Lefkara is the peace and beauty of its winding streets lined with tiny shops selling intricate craftware and the architecture of it's traditional stone houses. The sleepy atmosphere and shady side streets allow the visitor to immerse themselves in Cypriot culture. The village also contains a small folklore museum and a handful of restaurants and cafes. We have an optional Lace making workshop where you can see demonstrations of lace making at work or you can explore the village at your own pace, visiting the artisan shops and soaking up the atmosphere. Next we travel to nearby Kato Drys village which is home to one of the islands popular wineries. Here we can sample a variety of locally produced wines and learn a little about wine production and grape varieties in Cyprus. We then head back down to the coast to Governors beach which in in between the cities of Larnaca and Limassol. Famous for it's white limestone rocks, there are 3 main beaches as well as numerous secluded bays of dark sand and clear blue waters. It an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing and exploring the nature trails in the hills around the beach. Because of it's secluded nature, some of the harder to reach bays are popular with nudists and it is one of the few places in Cyprus where you can swim "au naturel". Close to the beach there are a choice of restaurants including popular fish taverns.
